To me, this set is the benchmark for squareneck resonator guitar strings. I’ve used GHS 1650s for many, many years, and they’re the first set I’ll put on a resonator guitar when I want to hear what the instrument has to offer. I very seldom change to another set unless I’m looking to color the sound a little differently.
The .016/.018 plain-string combination is a great choice for players who prefer a slightly brighter tone with a little more sparkle. To my ears, the 1650s deliver a balanced sound that I’ve come to rely on over the years.
